Explains and shows the legacy of Austrians coaching American racers, in particular American women - starting with the first U.S. Women’s Ski Team trained in St. Anton, Austria in the 1930s, and how since then numerous Austrians have been recruited to coach American racers at all levels throughout the Americas, from youngsters at local ski clubs, to coaching Argentinean, Chilean, Canadian, and U.S. Olympic Teams. In fact, notable Austrian racers/coaches were instrumental in starting the first summer racing camps and ski academies in the Americas, as well as in the development of innumerable American Olympic and World Champions. As one such Austrian coach explains, “It was in the Americans’ interest to have as good racers as the Austrians and hiring Austrian coaches was considered a way to achieve that.”“
